Liebe Leserin, lieber Leser

nach langer Funkstille hier kommt wieder ein Lebenszeichen aus dem Waldhus!

Wir geniessen und lieben unser Zuhause, obwohl immer noch kleinere Baustellen offen sind... Hoffentlich werde ich es schaffen, im neuen Jahr wieder regelmässiger zu posten und Euch das Waldhus auch von innen kennenlernen lassen... ;-)

Aber zuerst, möchten wir Euch allen unbeschwerte Weihnachtstage wünschen und einen guten Rutsch in ein glückliches, gesundes und friedvolles 2017!

Frühling oder nicht Frühling...??

Dear Reader

Die neue Season bringt Änderungen sowohl in unserem Garten als auch für unser Blog...ich spiele gerade so mit der Idee, die Hauptsprache des Blogs auf Deutsch umzustellen... was hält Ihr davon? ;-) Heute ein kleines Beispiel dafür, wie es dann klingen könnte...ich muss Euch warnen, Deutsch ist nicht meine erste und auch nicht meine zweite Sprache... mein schriftlicher Ausdruck ist weit von fehlerfrei entfernt!!! :-)

Dafür lerne ich aber gerade viele neue Wörter kennen und zwar all die Namen unserer neuen Pflanzen, Blumen und Gartensträucher!!! ;-) Ja, ja...obwohl das Wetter noch etwas unentschieden ist und unsere Nachbarn uns empfohlen hatten, lieber noch zu warten (über 800 M.ü.M. können April und Mai viele Wetterüberraschungen bieten!), mit den ersten Sonnenstrahlen war die Vorfreude nicht mehr zu bremsen und wir haben angefangen, unseren Garten anzulegen! ;-)

Es sieht noch alles ziemlich bräunlich aus...aber die erste Blätter lassen sich sehen und heute ist auch wieder etwas Sonne da gewesen, so konnte ich endlich für Euch ein paar Fotos knipsen ;-)

Das erste Foto zeigt doch keine Pflanze...sondern unsere Terrasse, jetzt neu mit einem Tisch!! Noch sehr minimalistisch gehalten, ich finde aber die Sicht einfach so entspannend... :-)

Vor dem Haus die (noch kleine) Wildrosen (Rosa pimpinellifolia)...

...und die (noch kleiner) Flieder (Syringa vulgaris)...

Dieses und das nächste Foto sind etwas älter... zeigen die erste Blätter der sibirischen Blaubeeren (Lonicera kamtschatica Kalinka) und des Kirschenbaums (Prunus avium Regina)...

 ...hier noch die erste Blätter unserer Weintraube (Vitis vinifera 'Souvenir')!!!! :-) :-) :-)

Unsere roten und schwarzen Johannisbeeren (Ribes)...

Schon mit den ersten Beeren!!! :-) :-) :-)

Hier ein meiner Lieblingssträucher, die Apfelbeere (Aronia prunifolia), die als Heilpflanze unter den Obstarten gilt und deren Früchte kleiner Äpfel ähneln...Ihr habt es vielleicht gemerkt, ein Thema unseres Gartens ist "Naschgarten"... ;-)

Und zuletzt unser Kräuterbeet (mit Restposten aus dem Hausbau gefertigt ;-) ) soweit haben wir Rosmarin, Thymian, Petersilie, Salbei, Basilikum, und Origano gesät...

...und die erste Radieschen!! (Siii, wir haben auch schon einen kleinen Gemüsegarten angelegt!)

Das war's für die erste Runde. 

Nächstes Mal möchte ich Euch zwischen anderen die Wildhecke und die Trockenmauerpflanzen zeigen... 

und vielleicht haben wir bis dahin auch etwas Grünes worauf man laufen kann... ;-)

Longing for Spring...

Dear Reader

here I am again with a quick update from the Waldhus. We're enjoying our first Winter at home,  furnishing and shaping the house with a slow pace and relaxed mood ;-) (I'll show you a few pictures in the next post). With the crazy up & downs of weather and temperature of the past weeks however we started yearning for the new Season and the promise of the garden to come: this will be one more exciting adventure this year! :-)

So, although the weather outside still looks very wintery, we started the first preparation works for our future little garden. Our ideal garden - as we dream it now - should be colorful, eventful, with a spicy natural charm and easy-care ;-) something on these lines:

There is still a long way to get there, right now our garden looks like a bleak mud puddle, with no life whatsoever, not even a single worm in it (not surprising after we scooped and moved around tons and tons of soil to build the cellar) !!

So, this year is first lab time: experimenting with seeds and plants, getting acquainted with our land and preparing it for the years to come. Since we cannot do anything right now outside, we started by pre-preparing some seedbeds:

Here some to-be sage, lavender, and sweet alyssum,

...parsley and basil...

(here with the first parsley-like tiny leaf!!! can you spot it??)

...and of course my beloved rosemary :-) Together with sage, parsley, basil, and garlic it builds the essentials of any italian home!!

In addition, I found some nice willow catkins at a florist this week... and I couldn't resist!! They had to come home with me for my first attempt at a willow catkin door wreath  ;-) I didn't really have an idea how to proceed, but it was fun to try to sort out those tiny furried twigs! Unfortunately it was night already and the pictures got a bit blurred:

Here the final result, ready to welcome our guests and us home :-)

As you see reflected in the picture above, we still have some snow in the garden. Days are getting longer though, and we are experiencing some lovely icy sunsets blessed with the promise of a soon-to-come Spring...

A New Year

Dear Readers

to all of you, who've just moved in their new homes,

to all of you, who are in the process of building or moving, ;-)

we wish you a 2016 full of excitment, fun, and wonder; 

gifted with a clear mind and enthusiastic creativity to solve the unavoidable issues

and patience and comprehension to deal with those that can't be solved! ;-) 

We wish you a year of bright hope and fulfilled dreams with your old and new homes, 

an that you may enjoy this time to its fullest, 

blessed by health and the proximity of your beloved ones.

For us this year has started in the best way: 

we are enjoying our house intensely and could not be happier. :-)

Now the snow arrived anew: 

no doubt a Schwedenhaus looks at its best when it's cocooned in a soft, white snow coat...
